On the whole, other people generally can be trusted to do the right thing.
Do you generally trust other people to do the right thing, or are you certain that most people won't? Think of the wallet left on the bus, the lost dog running in the street, the old man who stumbles, the cashier who gives too much change.
This is actually an important question, because it affects whole societies. People who think other people are generally trustworthy tend to treat others better, and people who think that other people are not trustworthy tend to act more selfishly. And because people base many of their views and actions on what they think other people are thinking, this shapes communities. So a society where most people do not trust other people quickly finds its suspicions validated, while a society full of people who think others are trustworthy will grow stronger and kinder.
