Disability leave before twins?
Did anyone go on disability leave before their twins arrive without having a major complication? Early on one of the nurse practitioners told me that most twins moms stop working at 24-28 weeks. I worked until 30 weeks (8/11) and then felt as though I couldn't do my job adequately anymore. My employer was supportive of the timing. I haven't seen my doctor since late June (I've been seeing others in the practice) but at that appointment she told me to mentally prepare to become very uncomfortable by late July. However, the paperwork she signed said I wouldn't be disabled until after my due date (Oct 20). The insurance company is wondering about the discrepancy. I called the nurse and she was quite rude and asked me "what gave you the idea you could just stop working?" But she said she'd ask the doctor if she's willing to write a note. I have access to other leave after delivery so I was feeling quite lucky to have access to disability before delivery but now I'm not so sure. Anyone else navigate this before? Am I asking my doctor to do something wrong?
My job requires me to walk most of the day and then sit in meetings most evenings, sometimes until 9:30pm (making for some 12 hour days in my 5 day work week). If I *had* to do it I probably could, but I was so tired and miserable and having a hard time taking care of myself on top of working so I thought it was ok to use the leave I had access to. Thoughts?
