Please help! Ovulation?

Hey! I'm trying to get pregnant! I bought some ovulation tests so I can pin-point when I'm ovulating! Thing is...I don't know when to take them exactly? Like I can read the box, and I'm probably over thinking it, but I'm so confused by all of it. 
So do I need to test if I'm ovulating before or after my period? And typically when is the best time to check? Thanks to anyone that helps a girl out!!

I'd start testing about 10 days after your period, twice a day(especially if you have the cheap strips) once around 11/12 and then again around 4-6.

You ovulate typically 14 days before your next period so I would test that week to help. I put my periods into glow and randomly decided to test on the 23 and it was positive. It was a few days off from what glow predicted

Thank you all! I drink a lot of water so does that affect it? Because I'm supposed to be ovulating now according to Glow && counting days I should be ovulation but it's not showing up on test.

Start testing maybe cd 8 for your first cycle. Test once a day middle of day 10-4 ish. Try to get a good 3-4 hour hold. Once the line starts to show up and get somewhat dark, start testing 2 or 3 times a day so you don't miss your surge. (Generally should peak around cd 12-16 in a regular 28 day cycle). 
Once you get your first positive, you should ovulate 12-36 hours after. 
No need to keep testing after a positive.

My tests never got dark though, because I drink so much water.
