How old where you when you first went through a death in the family/someone close to you?

My dad, 6 days after my 11th birthday. 17 years later I still miss him and have felt like I've been missing something from my life ever since. He was the only person in my family that made me feel like I belonged. I feel like things would've gone differently for me in my life if he was still here. Sorry if that seems a bit depressing, that's just life.

I lost my grandma young but I don't remember how old I was. I think it was about 15 years ago now so probably 10ish. We lost my husband's grandma a year and a half ago so I turned 24 a week after she died. And almost a month after my 25th birthday this year, I lost my dad. We weren't close but it was SUPER hard on me cuz I got married December 30th and he finally admitted to my husband that he proved him wrong (they didn't get along) and he was finally telling me he loves me and hugging and kissing me. I lost him in April. He called me on my birthday in March and it was the last time we spoke. It was so hard after things were finally changing for us. Most of my wedding pictures I can't even look at cuz it brings back the changes we'd made and it hurts so much. On top of his death, it was due to carbon monoxide poisoning in the house so my ma got it too but since he went to bed and she stayed up (thank f'n god!!) he died in his sleep and she suffered through it nearly dying. She made it but my god, my hometowns fire department made up so many damn stories about what happened and told my mother in law everything which she relayed to us on the drive to get to my ma and it was ridiculous. I live in Vegas and our family is in the high desert (California) so I kept hearing all kinds of bullshit that I was so confused as to what really happened. Which what they said wasn't even close, and had messed me up way more. I'm still in denial that he's gone. Even though he had an open casket funeral and we saw him and I've visited his grave a lot, I still feel like he's just lost somewhere, that he's really still here but I just don't know where he is.

I was 16 when my grandfather died. He and my grandma raised me so it was very, very difficult. My grandma passed away this past new years.

My grandpa died when I was really little. But it didn't have much of an effect on me. I had never seen him very often (maybe once a year for only a few hours) and I remember absolutely nothing about him other than he was a heavy smoker, and I remember going to spread his ashes. That's it 🤷🏻‍♀️ 
One of my good friends from high school died when I was 20. She took me under her wing my senior year, after my gf and I broke up and I didn't have any other friends. I tutored her in science because she failed her proficiency 3 times and wasn't going to graduate - but with my help she passed it. Then barely out of high school, she gets killed by a drunk driver on her birthday. That was the first death in my life that took its toll on me. 😔
