My doctor was worried that I had a low hcg level when I first found out I was pregnant and a few days later I miscarried. I went to the er and my levels were 26. They eventually dropped to 0. But like other people have said as long as your numbers are increasing it doesn't matter

I find that hard to believe since they won't check again until 8 weeks

The actual number doesn't matter as much as how fast it's increasing. It should double every two days. Are you having it checked again?
