False positives?

Question

I took a pregnancy test, and it said "pregnant 1-2 weeks" so I went to the doctor and they said it was negative, but to take a blood test. When I took the at home test it was with my morning urine, and the one I gave the doctor looked extremely diluted. Is there anyway I could still be, or is it a false positive?

There are no such thing as false positives, you have the hormone, or don't. If you don't, or it's REALLY low, you MAY get a false negative. But if you feel you are, but you're not showing up on HPTs or you're not feeling reassured, ask for a blood test (HCG) along with a urine test when you go to your doc.

False positives are rare.  A lot of people will say that they got a false positive and it was just a chemical pregnancy. When in fact it wasn't a false positive. A chemical pregnancy is just another word for a really early miscarriage.  But depending in how early you are your uribe could just be diluted.  I'd wait a few days and ask the dr to retest.  Good luck :)

False positives are very rare unless you are on some sort of medication that could yield a +. Most likely the sample given at the doctors was too diluted like you said. The other thing I could think of is perhaps a chemical pregnancy? I doubt it though unless you started to bleed. Try testing again. Good luck ☺️

If the urine is too dilute and it's early it could give a false negative. A blood test is really your best bet! Good luck!

Yep, you could be. Early on when levels are low, dilution of the urine can effect the result. Also, a lot of doctors use regular line tests that aren't very sensitive for urine tests, and some will discard a result if the line isn't obvious. I hope your blood test comes back positive!
