When you should tell you kids about sex

My mom literally told my sister about it when she was 7. But I told her it was a little bit of a bad idea too start earlier.

I will teach my daughter about things in an age appropriate manner unless she has further questions. She'll be informed early on. I don't want her to be in high school and still don't know what sex is or how babies are made. I think it's an absolute necessity and right, even, to know about the human body and biology. Kids shouldn't be left in the dark to be confused and uneducated.

I think there's different stages to this talk and each stage is appropriate for different ages. starting with the girls have vaginas and boys have penis part up to the this is what sex is part. I think it's important for kids as early as 2 or 3 to understand there are differences and your body is for you and their body is for them. also good touch bad touch. I'm pretty honest with my kids though so if they ask me a question I answer it.

I plan to be 100% honest with my kids. My parents never told me anything and then when I was 17 and they found out I was engaging in sex (and I even was responsible at got on the pill) they punished me. Because I was sexually naive it got me into a lot of bad situations that could've been avoided if I was given proper sex education. I feel like you can tell young children about their bodies and sexual experiences in age appropriate ways. I obviously wont tell my 4 year old what I would tell her when she's 10-12, but throughout her life (or his) they will know everything about their bodies, proper sex education, etc. I want my child to be able to come to me when they become active without fear of retaliation. I rather have a 14 year old on birth control than my 14 year old with a pregnancy that shes not ready for. Parents who decide to not educate their children on proper sex education are parents who fail their children.

I learned about sex at 6. I'm completely normal, nothing wrong. The earlier, the better. Consent, too. I'm not saying give the nitty gritty details, just the bare bones basics. 
I had a pregnant 11 year old in a class I taught, and she hadn't the faintest clue as to why. Education is important.

My mom told me about it when I was about 10 or so. Nothing wrong about it. Kids will start to wonder about their body at that age or later at some point. I think girls should at least be told earlier because periods can come really early. A heads up would be nice to them than leaving them in the dark and then be scared the day the wake up with blood between their legs. I think 10 is the perfect age for boys and girls. Earlier is good too. I don't think 5 year old should know about sex, stds, or periods yet. Let them enjoy their childhood days a bit longer !
