Snapchat question???

So the arrow that was red because the person had opened the snap turned grey and now when I send them something it says delivered, then when I open it says it's pending until they add me as a friend. However they still show up as one of my best friends..?? In the past when I've been deleted, they no longer are in my friends list and the name changes to just the username. So are we still friends or not?
