Do you think it is necessary to change your wardrobe once you become a parent?

My "associate" called my phone to talk causally and within the conversation, I mentioned...I had cleaned out my closet and donated half of my stuff to Hurricane Harvey victims. I SPECIFICALY mentioned how I gave away ALL of my summer dresses and sort. She replied, "That is a good thing because you are a mom now and you can buy mommy clothes."

I think it isn't appropriate to dress with your butt or boobs hanging out - especially as a mom. But that's me. (And not saying that you were lol that's just a general statement).  I never dressed like that, I've always had to have longer shorts and higher necklines anything else and I was too uncomfortable. So I didn't have to change anything.

Hell no! I mean unless you previously dressed like a hooker lol 🙄 I'm not getting rid of my skirts and dresses because I'm a mom. I got rid of a lot of stuff because it didn't fit anymore though 😂
I wear summer dresses, rompers, shorts, etc... I still love fashion! What does "mommy clothes" even mean 😑
Btw that was really awesome of you to donate your clothes to the victims of hurricane Harvey 🙏🏼🙌🏼💜

I don't think it's an instant switch that happens right when you become a mom, but eventually for every woman our style moves on from what it was in high school to a more adult version of ourselves. A lot of times we use motherhood as a trigger for that, I think.

I don't think you should HAVE TO change your wardrobe, wear whatever you want 🤷🏻‍♀️ but I personally changed my style so people would take me more seriously, I look younger than 22 so often get treated like it 😒 but I also want to dress appropriately because I think if I wear anything too revealing it's embarrassing my daughter, but if you're confident in it and look good then go you! I just know that it doesn't suit me and my body anymore 😊

I'm not going to look like a frumpy ass holly hobbit because I have a kid. Many women choose to and that's on them but it's not a requirement that I haven't ever seen.

as a young mom i do feel like ive had to change the way i dress, not only because im a mom but because i feel like people already don't take me seriously with how young i look. i wore only black / tight clothes, short high waisted shorts and crop tops before and now i don't think i could bring myself to go out like that (im also 40 weeks pregnant so lol at that mental image). im still going to wear my docs everywhere and probably continue to wear all black sometimes because it's what i like and what im comfortable with, but i won't be wearing sheer tops and bralettes and other revealing clothes once i have my baby; i just don't feel as comfortable doing so anymore for some reason. maybe if im going out with friends or something on a rare occasion but definitely not when im with my daughter.

I don't think you have to change your wardrobe no matter what you wore before. I do have to say though that a lot of mommies opt for comforable, cute, and easy to put together after having a baby. Especially when you have to get your LO and yourself ready in the morning before work.

I think for your OWN COMFORT (at least mine anyway) it's good to add some new pieces to have as an option for new mommy activities (ei. Rolling around on floor with baby, climbing on playground with older children) that aren't just boring old "workout clothes". Like I invested in some really cute "lounge clothes" from Victoria's Secret Pink Collection. But ya you definitely don't need to be throwing away old clothing items just because you're "a mom now". Rock all those clothes!
