How to get people to wash their hands before touching my newborn?

I had trouble convincing people to wash their hands before touching my now almost 1 year old. Although I've been harping on it since his birth. It's always been a fight. I always got the well can't I just use sanitizer? Or germs are good for the baby! 😒 What amazes me more is how many don't wash their hands after using the bathroom... Even my own mother said she pees in the toilet not on her hands. Like really? But I'm due in a few days and instead of being a complete bitch telling everyone no visitors until 6 months. What do I do? On top of that my sister wants to visit with her 4 year old who just got over the Hands Foot Mouth Disease. I honestly don't want anyone who's just gotten over any cold or virus around my baby. 
How can I be adamant about all of this without being rude?

If they don't want to do it then they don't touch the baby. Simple as that. I have a 3 month old and I tell everyone did you wash your hands and everyone so far has been good about it 🤞🏻🤞🏻. If they don't want to wash their hands then no baby. Their loss.

It's your baby and you have to deal with repercussions if they get sick.  I'd be honest and tell them you don't want the germs. I did it with my first two kids, even at the holidays. I also kept hand sanitizer in every room (babyganics) it's better than nothing, especially after changing a diaper and not being able to wash your hands right away.

I am with you on this. Everyone WILL wash hands AND sanitize before holding baby Brantley. Even my 3 yr old will be doing so. I also ALWAYS wash my hands before holding or touching someone else's baby because it's just respectful. I would put a sign up on the hospital door and your door at home.

Hand sanitizer can actually work better than washing with soap but it can also dry out the babies skin. Just tell them straight up to go wash their hands because it's YOUR baby and if they want to touch then that's what they need to do. I'd just be a straight up puta.

How about you can use hand sanitizer after you wash your hands or don't touch my baby and if they have a problem they can leave  but don't be like me I don't have no problem with ruffled feathers you can nicely tell them but it's still your baby your rules

washing your hands you still have to touch things after. hand sanitizer they can kill 99.9% of germs touch nothing but your baby.

You don't have to "convince" anyone to do anything. They either DO or they DONT wash their hands. Then they either DO or they DONT touch your baby. It's not rude, your a mom and it's YOUR job to protect YOUR baby in any way YOU feel necessary.
