Spinal block Vs Epidural.

I had a C section after being deemed a failure to progress and my daughter going into destress. Everyone told me a c section wouldn't hurt and it would just be a lot of pressure but I felt a lot of pain, I couldn't feel them cut into me but I could feel practically everything else. A good friend of mine just had her baby via c section and she said she couldn't feel anything due to her spinal block. Being I labored for 33 hours before my c section I was really out of it I don't remember ever getting a spinal block. I did get an epidural about 17 hours into my labor but after that when I went in for my c section they quickly transferred me to the operation room to the table and started to work (the surgeon was already in there and scrubbed when I entered.) is it possible I never received a spinal block and went through an entire C section with only an epidural?
