Kombucha?

Question

Anyone drink kombucha while pregnant? Everything I find on the topic says you can, or you can't. The only reason I don't want to drink what I have at home right now is my friend brewed it for me, and there might be bacteria in it since it was made in their kitchen and not a sterile plant.

We brew our own and I drink it almost every day- my midwife says it's great to drink while pregnant.

I have been drinking it. Since it is fermented it would be highly unlikely that bacteria would servive in that environment.

I drink about 6-8oz once or twice a week. Before I was drinking 16oz almost daily - I've heard that if you are already used to drinking it you should be fine to continue. Just not something to start fresh if you haven't before.

I've been a kombucha drinker for years and I feel like I need it more than ever now! I used to have about 16oz a serving but since getting pregnant, I split that 16oz bottle into 3 servings. Some days it's been the only thing that has helped me be regular! I stopped drinking caffeine all together so still having my booch has been amazing. I did NOT talk to my OB about it, knowing she'd say don't because of the alcohol in it. But my very crunchy friends who are pregnant have been encouraged by their midwives so I decided it was ok for me.
