Period after sex

I will keep this very simple. Yesterday I had sex for the first time. Everything went well and I felt no pain, which was a relief for me!! But today I got my period, and my cramps have been so bad . I knew my period would be coming today (from my calendar) but the cramps have never been this bad before. Do you think it has anything to do with yesterday?
