First words?!?

This might be silly.. has anyone's babies said their first words yet? Also was wondering how babies learn calling parents mama/dada? I'm asking this because my husband and I call each other with nick names so how would our baby learn to call us mama/mom etc..! Just dying to hear it!

Mine says mama, dada and up. :) we've been working with her since she was born pointing to ourselves saying mama or dada, so she spoke extremely early with obvious words that wasn't just babbling. Lots of our friends babies focused on mobility first and weren't even babbling by 6 months, so it just depends on your baby and their interests.

My (almost 7 month old) baby says "dada" but we call dad "papi" so I think she's just putting syllables together. Hopefully soon she starts saying more words!

So far just babbling but it's funny because she's doing it in such a conversational tone, I feel like 1st words might be dog or cat since she's fascinated w/ our pets, I'm trying to eventually get her to call me Mommy, like one of the other comments said I talk about myself in the third person "Mommy's going to the kitchen, Mommy will be right back." I try to say it a lot because I don't want her to call me by my 1st name like my stepson does. My hubby doesn't seem to know what he wants her to call him, his son called him Baba when he was little & now calls him Dad, I refer to him as "Daddy" but he's been kind of jokingly trying to get her to say "Father" like we live in England in the 1800's or something :)

My baby girl says mama when shw is tired and fussy. She says dada when she is happy and playing. I would like to think she says mama because i nurse her and put her to bed compared to her daddy just playing with her. But I'm pretty sure she is just rambling and doesnt know what it means yet. Lol!

My son is 7 months tomorrow and says mama and dada. Since he was born my husband and I both speak in third person, like "Come to mama", "Mama is going to get Cooper his bottle" or "Dada is going to change Cooper's diaper", etc.
