Is this a lot of baby clothes for 23 weeks?

Question

I'm 23 weeks and my MIL won't stop telling me to stop buying baby clothes. This is my first child so I'm just enjoying it. Is this a lot of clothes for only being 23 weeks? I do realize I won't get gifts but I'm enjoying this so what's the problem?

This is all I pretty much have besides some stuff in the wash. It's a very small not above the knee laundry basket.

You're going to get a ton at any baby shower you have since that's what people want to buy. Also they grow like weeds so you won't have any idea how long they will be in that size.  I wouldn't buy anything more until after your shower at least.

As long as you're living within your means and not going into debt over it, who cares? I'm more of a minimalist but that's just because we're super frugal and tight on our budget. If I was more financially secure I'd be buying all new things for this little girl.

It's your baby and your money. Spend away, girl. Once I find out the sex of my baby I'll be the same way and I really don't care what anyone has to say about it. :)

tbh baby clothes should never be "enough" for a baby like they grow, poop, spit, throw up on their clothes so buy as much as you want who cares?! it's your baby spoil the hell out of your baby! 😜

I love baby clothes so I went nuts. Only advice.. buy like 6-9 months and up because everyone will buy you newborn and 0-3.

I'm 23 weeks too and have probably triple of that for my lil boy. He's my first and I'm also verrrry excited. 
I'll fight anyone who says its too much. 
MY baby MY money MY decision. Don't like it? Then don't buy the baby clothes and mind ya business 🤷🏽‍♀️😒🤣

Nothing wrong with wanting to shop. Girls are fun to shop for 😊 just keep in mind that babies grow fast and that if you have too many clothes then that will be money gone to waste. I was the same way when i found out i was having a girl, now i realize she has more clothes than she will ever wear and in hind sight, i wish i would have spent that money on other stuff she will actually use

We have purchased about 5 outfits for baby so far and I'm 29 weeks.  Early in pregnancy my mom and hubby's stepmom
Went CRAZY buying clothes.  We had 3 full trash bags (that was the easiest way to store them while we finished the nursery), plus 2 large Carters bags full.  We just went through it and washed it, we picked out about 3/4 full of a trash bag that we aren't fond of and plan to donate.  But if you see something you like, buy it!  It's YOUR baby; and if you end up with too many clothes, they can be donated or sold at a consignment shop.  We specifically picked stuff we love, took the tags off and washed.  Stuff we are iffy about will stay in a box with tags on in case we decide to sell or donate it.
