This is good information though. Thank you for sharing. I'd also add that, while cash donations are best, please avoid earmarking them, or at least keep it as general as possible.

Houston's main shelters luckily have been very specific of their needs. They started turning away clothing unless it was plus sized on the second day the shelters opened. They are very particular on what they will accept and have relayed it to the news of their specific needs, like tampons, diapers, underwear, shampoo, etc.
