A little advice please

So my Ob-Gyn had me on a low dose birth control pill for a month to aid with some hormonal symptoms. I finished them 2 days before I was expecting af. Thinking I had a couple of days before interrupted intamacy, hubby and I made the most of the time. Now I had light spotting for 3 days and then nothing. Now I'm getting slight cramping just on one side. On day 42 of my cycle, should I take a test or wait it out.
