Hi ladies I'm just wondering if anyone else suffers as bad as me

A few days before my period I get mild/ bad cramps and they last the whole day and then when I do get it I get unbearable cramps, I have a heat pack and also take paracetamol but it doesn't work. I also take specially made medication thats for period pain but that doesn't seem to work either and today I went and bought paracetamol with codeine in it and that still hasn't worked to help my cramps. I don't want to go on the birth control pill but will that work better than what I'm taking?
