Should drugs be legalized?
Curious for some other perspectives on this... I personally feel that most drugs should be legalized and regulated, because 1. Banning the use of a substance allows the government to usurp someone's bodily autonomy, which is considered unacceptable in regards to other social issues. 2. Legalization means regulation, which means safer product. 3. Unlike with alcohol, most crime associated with other drugs is committed during acquisition of the drugs rather than under the influence. If they are legal to acquire, this problem is eliminated. 4. This will cripple the street drug trade and curb associated crime. 5. Tax that shit and watch the 💲💲💲 flow in. Plus (we've already seen this in the marijuana industry as well as the age-old alcohol and pharma industries), legalizing this stuff means someone has to run facilities to manufacture and sell it, which means businesses and jobs. 6. The most dangerous and deadly drug on Earth (alcohol, which causes more death and crime than all other drugs combined) is already legal, so it's pretty hypocritical to ban or heavily restrict the rest. Sure, drugs will always cause social problems... but nowhere near on the scale that we've already seen with alcohol and the illicit drug trade. Thoughts?
