Is it bad to choose a college because your boyfriend goes there?

Ok so I am graduating a year after my boyfriend. I am undecided on where to go to college. I really have no preference, as long as i graduate from college and can become a nurse. I looked into the school before we started dating so it's always been an option. The school has a good nursing program and that's what I want to do. Is it acceptable to choose a college because my boyfriend goes there. It's also 3 hours away from where we live. So i'm happy i'd be near him again (if not living with him) and the school has a good nursing school. But does it sound like i'm just following him?

I don't see why so many people are voting yes. I don't see a problem with it, as long as you're going to get to where you need to be.

I think a lot of people will say yes if it's the only reason you're choosing that school. But you're bringing up valid points as to why it would suit you. The issue is, if you don't make new friends and just hang out with him and some of his friends occasionally, you'll literally have no one if the two of you breakup. And that's obviously not what you want or expect to happen, but during these years, it's quite likely. Not to say you two will, because plenty of people don't break up. But due to the given ages, it is a possibility.

I think it's a bad idea to go there ONLY because he goes there.  But if you like it and want to go there anyway,  why not?  the fact is,  statically your relationship isn't going to last through graduation but it could help knowing a familiar face at a new school.  I would advise that if you do go there with him, get yourself involved with new friends and groups so you're not just there for him.

If your choosing the school because the program you want it really through them then go for it, if you choose strictly because he's going to the school then I'd reconsider. If they have the nursing program you want go and good luck

I agree with a lot of these comments - if you didn't have a preference in the first place and this college also happens to have what you like then go for it girl! Also just make sure that the idea doesn't "creep" your boyfriend out like you're following him and he isn't that committed to you. That would be my only concern. I know when my boyfriend (hubby now) and I were graduating high school he was looking into a college in the next state over and he really wanted me to go too. We both decided to commute locally though. ☺️

No problem if you don't have a preference.... Don't go changing what you want or where you wanna be because of a guy. But if it doesn't matter which one, why not go where he is??

You've done your homework in the school and it seems like there are pros besides your boyfriend being there which is good. So I say go for it!
