I have a 2 week old & I’m back in the hospital😪
Sunday night 9/3 I woke up at about 2am with horrible stomach pain. My mom thought it was gas so I took tums and gas x. It helped the slightest bit. I fell asleep and woke right back up at 4am with worse pain. I stayed up until my 2 week old daughter woke up around 6. I fed her(bottle) and changed her.
It was around 8am when I couldn’t take it anymore. I have her to her father got changed and went to a simple urgent care down the street. I was there for 10 mins and they told me to go to the hospital because my stomach was so tender it was most likely my gallbladder. They sent me to a local hospital Not where I gave birth. I got there at around 9 and it wasn’t until maybe 2pm that they told me I had gall stones. They admitted me but said There was no surgeon I could talk to until the next morning. I was pretty high of medication the whole time which was great lol.
The next morning Tuesday I did not see a surgeon until about 11 am and they wanted to take my whole gall bladder out at 1:30 that day. I was so nervous I waited for my mom to get there to see if we were going to let them do it or if I should go to the bigger hospital where I gave birth. We decided to go with the hospital I was already at just so we could get it over with and the doctor seemed very confident and they said he always does at least 8 fall bladder removals a day. The surgery was about an hour of course I just went to sleep and woke up afterwards. They said they were giving me the same pain medicine as before it was just in different packaging but this time the medicine didn’t make me light headed like the first one did right before I got numb. The new one they gave me did not Work at all. They gave me a pill which is the same one I will be taking home with me which works very little. I’m still in pain and they said there is no way they can make my pain level go to 0 because I just had surgery. My pain level has stayed at at least a 5 which is not terrible but it still hurts and is very uncomfortable.
It is now 7:30 Wednesday morning. I got to see my daughter about 3 times the whole time I was here and I’m just so ready to go home and be with her again. But the nurses don’t know when my doctor and the surgeon will be in to discharge me. I’m just very upset I won’t be able to care for my daughter like I should be able to. The nurse said elderly people take about 2 Weeks to recover so I should take about a week I’m guessing. But everyone is different who knows. They said gal bladder problems are normal in women who just give birth and let me just tell you it sucks. This is a long post I’m sorry I just thought I’d tell my story.
