Blood test = low hcg levels

So I took a hpt yesterday and it came back positive...so my doc sent me for blood work...they called me today and said that it is positive but my hcg levels are very low...what exactly does that mean? Should I not tell my husband? Am I gonna MC? I'm really freaking out right now :'(
