Traveling advice

Hello mamas! My hubby will be taking a work trip to Hawaii at the end of November and our little one will be just a week shy of 9 months. I am taking advantage of this awesome opportunity by going on our first family vacation. Here is the deal though, I've never traveled with a baby let alone a long plane ride from Kansas (I believe it's 14 hours). I also have never been to a warm climate beach. So any mamas who have traveled with a baby (bonus points for a long plane ride or to a beach) I desperately need tips! What things help with a plane ride, how do you keep your little one calm and entertained, and not distracting to other passengers? What are essentials to pack for a baby for a hotel, plane ride, and beach?
