Period like pains??

I'm 36+2 weeks pregnant and I've been having these weird pressure pains kinda like I'm about to start my period. It goes around to my lower back as well. It doesn't feel like Braxton hicks they are actually a lot more painful and uncomfortable than the Braxton hicks I've been having. Any ideas on what might be going on?

1. Did you have any sexual activity recently or could you be dehydrated 
My partner and I can't have sex because of the pain it causes me afterwards. I also was not drinking enough water so it was making me feel uncomfortable all the time

I have had those a lot of today as well. With my research I see it is just your body preparing for the birth. Not that it is a sign of early labor, but it could be. So always just call your dr to be safe if it continues. But said to drink lots of water, lay on your left side & even take a warm shower to ease them. If they continue get more painful & regular to go in to be checked.

Following! I'm 36+2 as well and I have these period cramps in my pelvis, my hips and my lower back and it's not BH cuz I get those a lot and I know what they feel like. The cramps even wake me up out of my sleep! I asked my doctor today and she said it's normal but didn't exactly explain what it was or what it was doing

Could be a sign your cervix is softening/thinning and could also be dilating. I have been feeling this and I'm 2cm dilated at 36 weeks today.
