Do people ever confuse your baby for the opposite gender?

I was in the store today and this has happened once or twice before. Someone will say about my baby boy "oh she's so cute". I don't feel bothered by it because someone is referring to my son as a girl but I find it just a little annoying how focused our society is about gender and we attach and associate way to many things with gender like sorry was I supposed to dress my son in a sports onesie and make sure everything surrounding him is blue so you know he's a boy. I choose to dress him in a lot of Neutral clothing or more gray clothes because I personally like that I think the sports stuff is tacky. I just think it would be so much better for people just to refer to babies as "they" or "them" until knowing otherwise or even just asking "boy or girl?" instead of just assuming
