weird period?

I've been trying to get pregnant. my periods are usually spot a little at first then I bleed so much I can't sleep at night or go to work for a day maybe 2 then it goes to a normal flow. this month I was a day late. but it was a real dark spotting and very little. the next day it was pink but just after I went to the bathroom and today back to the dark spotting just a little nothing on my pad. has anyone had this happen? it's very not normal for me.
