Family history- should ttc be like your moms?

My mom doesn't understand why I'm not pregnant yet. She had 4 kids and each time it was a piece of cake for her. My family has been through a lot of tragedy in the past year so everyone keeps asking if I'm pregnant yet. We have been ttc for 2 months now

Two months is nothing honey, it takes the average couple six months to a year to get pregnant.

There are issues you could have with ttc that would be genetic but also issues that could be totally your own, plus the male in the ttc equation is a huge difference!

My mom allegedly got pregnant her first time ever having sex at 16. I'm 33 and my husband and I have been actively trying since this spring with no success thus far. Definitely don't expect it to be the same. I only just told my mom we were trying for the same reason - I didn't want to be asked about it every time I picked up the phone (it actually sort of slipped out that I said anything at all). I'm sorry you're going through that. Maybe tell everyone you guys decided to take some time to focus on yourselves so you don't have that external pressure? TTC is hard enough without a peanut gallery. Sending baby dust!

it depends... some things that can make TTC harder like weight for instance is hereditary amongst other things but there are also quite a few things that are not hereditary that can affect TTC as well

I agree with other posters. You also mention a lot of tragedy (sorry to hear), which would likely affect your chances of conceiving. Baby dust!

Everyone is different. My mom's first child was a surprise baby, and I was planned. Maybe some time I'll ask my mom how many months she waited before being pregnant with her second baby.

I hope not because my mom had unexplained infertility and it took her years to conceive. I've been TTC for 6 months now with no luck.

you and your mom aren't the same. some women are just fertile at lucky that it takes no time. 2 months isn't long. we tried for about 1.5 years before we got pregnant. it's normal for it to take several months, don't worry.
