Je
It's been a few days, and if I'm going to remember this, I should write it down now. By the way, if you're scared of labor, stop now. Mine was not easy or pretty.
I was scheduled to start induction the night of the 4th, but while my husband and I were out for a walk, we got a call saying I had been put on hold. Then I got a call at midnight asking me to come in. So in we went and they started Cervadil. Everything was going well, cervix was thinning and I was starting to contract on my own. But my BP and contractions were all over the place, so they decided to start pitocin and get things going a little quicker about 10 am the 5th. Unfortunately, the pitocin sent my body into some kind of crazy overdrive and by noon my contractions were literally non-stop. I couldn't sit, lay down or relax enough to pee, so I chose to get an epidural. Which was awesome. At 2pm I was only 2cm, but by 4pm I was at 4cm. By 6pm I was fully dilated and we prepped me to push. My contractions kept getting closer and by 10, they pulled back the pitocin because again, my contractions were no -stop and I was shaking with the effort of constantly pushing through the pain. Only when they pulled back the pitocin, my contractions didn't stop. They just kept going. The anesthesiologist came in to try to relieve the pain and couldn't get them slowed or the pain level to go down. My doctor was getting concerned and I was kind of in and out because I couldn't handle the pain. When she felt for the baby, with every push, her head would come down and then go back up. They realized that the pressure of her was what kept my body contracting. And her shoulders weren't going to fit through my pelvis. So into  an emergency c-section I went. They numbed me up and went to work. My husband was holding my hand and we all heard the gasp of surprise when they took her out. She was 10lbs 3oz!!! At my last ultrasound they estimated she would be about 9lbs. Umm, just a little under! She is 21" long and has a gorgeous full head of hair.
I'm absolutely in love, and shocked at how well my body is handling what happened. Nothing went like I hoped it would, but in the end the result was the same...a gorgeous baby girl!
