Gassy baby, how can I help him??

My son is so gassy and I can see how uncomfortable he is.  I've done pretty much everything I can think of.  Mylocon drops, gripe water, changed to Dr Browns bottles, constant burping, bicycle exercise, rubbing belly.  All I can think of is it's the formula.  I also breastfeed but only a few times a day, more for bonding than food.  And no my diet doesn't have anything in it that would cause gas.  He started on Similac pro advanced.  He has regular diapers though the poop diapers are less frequent.  He's also gaining weight which is good.  Any time I feed him he starts crying in between when it's time to burp.  He arches his back which makes it harder to burp him.  I switched him to similac pro sensitive hoping it will help.  We're seeing the doctor soon so if he's still struggling I'm going to ask her if maybe we should try a soy formula?  My boyfriend's daughter had to have soy formula when she was a baby so not sure if that could be related.  Any other suggestions?

Are you sure it's gas and not reflux? I thought my son had severe gas and colic at first but it turned out to be reflux. Many colic and gas medicines actually make it worse, something I wish I'd known sooner. I stopped anything like that and made sure I kept him upright for 30-45 mins after a feed. I breastfed and didn't cut anything out of my diet. I was told it's better to stick it out as you only have to reintroduce the foods anyway and they get used to it if you keep any potential triggers in (of course, unless they have an actual allergy or intolerance to something). I gave my son infant probiotics- on my nipple or in expressed milk. It's easy to put in formula as well. They made a huge difference and really helped his whole digestive system cope.

Well I finely see someone going through the exact same thing as me I breastfeed and pump and bottle feed and give my son formula my son has tried everything for gas and I'm also using dr browns bottles and burping everything you've said we've done exactly the same it's not my diet either I looked online at the foods to avoid and I'm not eating those foods so I'm using the same formulas I tried Gerber good start soy and made my son constipated which I found out is a side effect of the soy so be careful of that because that also makes them very uncomfortable obviously I've got him using similac total comfort right now seems alright I mean he still is a bit gassy but not as bad as before good luck I hope you figure out something that works for your son

my soon to be 7 week old was like that. arched his back when it was time to burp, also had 3 hours of straight scream crying where we thought he broke a bone or something. ped said he has colic & reflux. we switched from enfamil newborn to gentlease. that made him spit up after every feeding so we are on Nutramigen now. will be seeing if we can switch back to the newborn and just add the probiotic drops to his bottle. nutramigen is hypoallergenic and much thinner, so he gets hungry quicker because all the stuff is already broken down so it just passes through. don't change formulas until you talk to your ped.

My son had the same issue.. he was lip and tongue tied after reversing it we haven't had any issues with the gas .. if you want to havenit checked out there is anlsctation consultant who specializes in it on Facebook group "cleavage club"

My son sometimes doesn't poop or pass gas so we started giving him Gerber soothe probiotic colic drops. And sometimes we stimulate his rear end with a q tip and some Vaseline. And a little after that he poops a lot

Probiotic drops!! It's the only thing actually proven to work. Gives their gut what they need to digest!

Try Similac Supplementing formula. I breastfeed and give him formula. He's still gassy but not so bad that he screams. Now I can relieve his gas by doing bicycles for a minute. The supplementing formula is nice because it has probiotics in it so you don't have to remember to give it to your baby.

My doctor just put our son on probiotic drops. He is rooting a lot more but still struggling to release big poops when it comes time. If he is super uncomfortable we do the thermometer in the butt trick and he'll poop shortly after. Some of the symptoms you describe sound more
Like reflux though. Ask your doctor.

our pediatrician said it's normal and will pass as their digestive system matures. if he is in intense pain for awhile after eating, throwing up a lot, or there is blood or mucus in his poop, then they'll have you try different formulas. 
we found that Similac sensitive made it worse, so we stuck it put with the pro advanced with occasional gripe water. 
maybe your pediatrician will see something else, though. so definitely talk to them asap! you can also call the nurse's line if your office has one.
