This will be our second child, our oldest son is 5. We had two cats when we had him and heard it wasn't safe to allow them around the baby when sleeping because they like to snuggle. So we locked them out of our room, they were content. We have two different cats now who don't handle being locked out very well and our 5 yr old wakes up through the night and comes in our room.
