My period always came around the 28-30th of every month. I just got my first period after having a baby and it actually arrived August 28th. Can I expect it to be regular again right off the bat or will it take a while to find it's rhythm again.

It's all varies on your body. I have been breast feeding for almost two months now and I haven't even gotten a period yet. Your body knows what it's doing, some people go back to normal right after birth and others take a few weeks or even months to get back in their regular cycles. Just have to be patient and let Mother Nature take her course.
