Christian listening to non-Christian music

What is your opinion on this?

I was raised at a Christian church where we were taught that listening to non Christian music means that we are "worshiping the world" and that it's a sin. As I got older I discovered there's music that I really like and it's not Christian. I'm 22 and I still go to church however when I listen to nonchristian music I feel guilty and remember what I was taught as a child. I downloaded new "modern" Christian music and I don't like any of it but I've been forcing myself to listen to it bc I feel guilty if I don't, I know this sounds silly.. but what are your opinions to this?? Please no rude comments!!!

My church was very strict about this, I remember I would listen to things like Hannah Montana or Jonas brothers when I was younger and I would be told I was worshiping the devil.
