I can't feel my strings! (Paragard)

I got my copper IUD on August 1st, and got my first period with it on time and it was so painful. Like deep deep cramps, which my doctor said to expect. I've had sex since then and each time I've bled afterwards. So I made my boyfriend wear a condom so neither of us would get an infection and in case the IUD was out of place that I wouldn't get pregnant. So today before my boyfriend an I had sex I tried to check my strings and couldn't feel them! So I had my bf check and he couldn't find them either....Do you guys think it could've got misplaced? I had random cramps but not super unbearable.. also during the procedure I moved a lot, I was in so much pain from the implantation that my doctor did it quickly and I feel like it might've been put in wrong? I know I should go see my doctor for an exam but I want your opinions first! I will go get seen, I just really want to see your similar situations
