Birth (epidural/none/c-section)?

Question

My mom has three daughters. I was the first born using an epidural, my middle sister was born without any meds (she was at work and sister was almost born in the hallway), and my last sister had complications during birth and had to be delivered by c-section. She had always said that no meds was the best delivery by far. Anyone been through epidural and natural birth? What are the pros and cons of each?

I liked my natural birth over my epidural. It takes longer to push with an epidural because you can't feel it completely plus with natural once they are out all the pain was worth it and gone the moment they are out.

Epi Pros:
- I slept while dialating from a 6 to a 10
- I was nice to my husband
Epi Cons:
- Took 24 hours for the Meds to wear off (left leg/side stayed numb)
- Too numb to push effectively - I eventually figured it out, but it took a few hours of ineffective pushing
- Groggy (could also be from the narcotics or the all nighter)
Natural Pros:
- Took a shower about 20 mins after birth
- No catheter 
Natural Cons:
- Mean as sin to my husband
- You feel the ring of fire
- my natural births did more damage to my body, but those births were quick which I have heard is a big factor in body damage

After having a bad experience with my first(epidural) I went natural with my second, and I recovered so much faster, it hurt, but with my first child the epidural pretty much wore off before he was born. I feel that the epidural prolonged my birthing experience, while going natural I could feel when my body wanted to push.

I had an epidural with my first born and delivered naturally. I tore a little bit and recovery was only a few days. With my second I had to get an emergency c-section and after no meds for 8 hours I was doing fine to deliver naturally. I would just breath through the contractions, but when they got me into surgery the epidural wasn't working and they had to up the amount every minute because I could feel it. Well short story I felt the pain of being cut and then taking out my son. It was the most traumatic for me personally!!!! Recovery was several days and I couldn't even laugh without it hurting! Everyone's delivery is different and maybe mine was just so terrible because it literally had to be an emergency and they couldn't wait any longer. But if your able to schedule your c-section and you are comfortably numb then go for it!

The best birth is where you feel comfortable and you're in control! If you want to try natural and end up wanting pain medication, then it's your choice! If you need an emergency C-Section, you still have choices and you can still be in control of the situation. Ask your nurses and doctors how to make your plan work in every situation.

I tried for a natural birth, but the pain was excruciating so I got the epidural. I don't regret it all all, I had a very peaceful birth experience. Second birth is easier than my 1st. 3rd was an emergency c section. You don't have to decide ahead of time. See how you do, and if the pain is too much then ask for the epi.

I only had births with epidural and pushed the 1st and 2nd one out in less than 15minutes. The 3rd I pushed 3 times and she was out... I don't regret getting it, never had back problems because of it.
