So my boyfriend said if we ever break up it's because he "cant deal with me". Is this even a valid reason?

It depends what he means by it, are you quite high maintenance? Are you a negative person dragging him down? Are you a drama queen and constantly looking for the next big drama in your life and creating drama where there is none? Are you messy in the home? That's just a short list of things that can be very difficult to live with and some people are just not prepared to stay with someone like that.

It all boils down to you aren't right for each other and the incompatibility hit a breaking point.

You are who you are and part of a relationship is working on things together if you and him are both willing to talk and change together for the better than the relationship isn't going to go anywhere of course. I don't feel it's a good reason I feel it just shows how he views things and possibly how closed minded he is. Hope that's not the case but I would hope he can see that if you both work on it together it can be anything you want it be, instead of putting blame on you for it ..

Wouldn't be a valid excuse to me. My boyfriend knows what he signed up for when we started going out, so no that would be unacceptable to me. And when you love someone you accept them for the way they are. So I guess if he's saying he can't deal with you then he wasn't worth it in the first place.
