Pacifiers and breastfeeding?

I am due with baby #2 in about 6 weeks. I definitely plan on breastfeeding her like I did my 1st daughter. I nursed my first for about 10 months we stopped due to her biting me.
My question is how many Mommas immediately introduced a pacifier to their newborn? 
I waited to introduce a pacifier with my first because that is what everyone told me to do. We took breastfeeding classes and I met with lactation consultants after she was born. They all scared me to death about giving my daughter a pacifier. They said that if I gave her a pacifier then she would have nipple confusion and never breastfeed again and I would have to give her bottles of formula.. we waited about 6 weeks to introduce a pacifier and she would never take them we tried a few different brands she just never wanted them. She would just suck her thumb. After we stopped nursing she started to take a pacifier and only has them now for naps and bedtime I feel it helps her sleep longer (she was a HORRIBLE sleeper.) 
I am just wondering how many mommas gave their babies pacifier immediately and didn't have any issues nursing?

Day one my daughter got a pacifier. She was a VERY oral baby. Everything went in her mouth and it was her only comfort. Which meant I needed it to survive, shower, drive, etc. I didn't push it, but I definitely used them. She was over them by about 5 months old when she learned other ways to soothe herself. 
She self-weaned from breastfeeding at 15 months and never was confused.

The nurses gave my daughter a pacifier on day 3 because she had jaundice and had to be under the lights naked so a pacifier is their only source of comfort. I continued to give her a pacifier since then and never had any issues. She weaned herself off of the pacifier at 5 months. She's now 8 months and still exclusively breastfed. Didn't cause nipple confusion for us.

My daughter got a pacifier starting week 1 and we had a few issues breastfeeding early on--had to use a nipple shield and feedings took forever, but I'm 99% sure that was because she was a preemie, not because of the pacifier or nipple confusion. We also had to give her at least one bottle of formula a day because of her being a preemie (hospital recommended it for minerals she should have had in utero the part of pregnancy we missed out on, and they aren't present in breastmilk) and that also didn't cause nipple confusion or anything. I had tons of supply and after a few weeks we dropped the nipple shield and things went great from there all the way through now, when we are finally weaning at 19 months.
Bottom line: pacifier did not cause nipple confusion for us!

Breastfed 3 babies, all had pacifiers day one, never had issues. From what I understand, nipple confusion is a myth.
