Ladies what have you found to be the best gadget for taking your newborn's temperature? Thanks in advance!

I like the forehead kind, it can be a little less accurate but it's close enough to know if you need to go to the doctor or not and it's easy to use.

I have this one and love it a lot! I used to use a regular thermometer under the arm pit and it was always inaccurate. My daughter currently has her first cold and it gave me three very different readings in a 10 minute period (I wanted to confirm the original temperature) ranging from 98.8 to 101.2. I went out and bought this one. Did the same thing and took three readings in a 10 minute time frame. It only fluctuated by 0.2 degrees. So that makes it a winner in my book!

I've used them all at this point. For very little babies I like using a digital thermometer rectally - it's very reliable and honestly, if you just vaseline the tip, doesn't seem to bother them that much.  For older babies and up I prefer temporal - NOT the touch-free kind. This is what we use in my facility (health care) for patients who can't have theirs taken orally. Braun makes a really affordable model. It can be a little inconsistent if you're not using it correctly, so read how to use it *properly* first. I usually take it a couple times to check for accuracy. Tympanic (ear) is ok, but I find it less consistent than the other two methods and much more resisted/hated by young ones (you're sticking something in their ear, after all! ) Temporal incites far less squirming.

I bought one off Amazon for cheap. The most important thing for me was checking how long it takes to get a reading. The first one I bought before my baby was born took close to a minute! Wth. Like how do you get your baby to stay completely still that long 🤷🏻‍♀️ So I found one off Amazon that gives the reading in about 5 seconds 🙌🏼 It's a digital one that I use under her arm.
