a little help please?

Question

So I am a highschool student, but the first two days of bleeding for me is always extremely heavy. like,  I need a new super sized tampon every two hours. I was wondering if anyone on here could give me some personal information about using a cup because I've been thinking about trying one, but I need to know how it will work all day. thanks!

I'm exactly the same my darling, I've had a heavy flow since I first got my period 15 years ago. Best thing I ever did was change to the cup. The first 2-3 days are crazy for me so I empty it upon waking, finishing work and before bed and it's always full but never enough to leak. The important part when putting it in is getting it to seal properly so no leaks.

You can use a cup no matter how heavy the flow.  I took a menstrual cup size quiz online. (You should be able to google it) it helped me pick the right cup and right size for me. I have tried two others before taking the quiz and I am so grateful I took it and switched. I can wear this one for 12 hours without having to take it out. If your period is super heavy you may have to change it every 8 hours. They say to do that at first anyway. That way you can judge  when to clean it better. Also, when you stop using tampons your cramps will get better.

yes, yes, the cup is great for the school day. i empty it when i wake up, when i get home from school, and before bed. the first few times you use it, i recommend using a pantyliner/pad as well, b/c it's hard to know if it's sealed well. :: turn it 360 degrees after you put it in, that should make sure it's opened fully.

Start with a small, flexible brand (I used blossom cup). The 7 fold and the pinch down fold are the best for me. To get it to open once it's inside me I move my finger around the cup, then move it slightly up and down because I can NEVER get that thing to turn. I work in EMS. I was super concerned about the 12 hour rule but sounded great because I work 24 hour shifts and just 2 changes is way easier... so I put it to the test. The first time I wore it to work on my heaviest day I was super busy. I leaked right at the 12 hour mark and it was a very minimal leak and also my cup felt heavy. However, I have never leaked since. My period has seemed to get lighter since I stopped using tampons.
