Birth control patch

What are your experiences, if any being on the patch? I started the patch two weeks ago, i have been bleeding since Thursday (my change day) consistently, but the color is dark red.. not like a period and i have lower back pain and abdominal pain. Am i having my period or is my body trying to get used to the Patch?? Before, the Patch i was on Birth control pills... Any comment is helpful. Thank you!
