I had bled for 3 months straight at 14, so i had to have birth control. But my mother made it a point to inform me of the options I had if I did become sexually active during my teen years. I think it is important to talk to your children about what is happening and that it is okay to explore their bodies, but it's just as important for them to know how to do it in a safe way.

I'd say yes. Even if they aren't sexually active (only if they want the pill). By about the time you're a teen you get really curious and I'd rather be safe than sorry. Not only that but not a ton of people are going to run up to their parent(s) and say I HAD SEX as a teenager. I say prepare them and give them information regarding sex so if they decide to do it they at least have the knowledge and protection to be pretty much safe

I was on the pill when I was 14... I didn't lose my virginity until I was 18 and engaged... I had such terrible periods that I HAD to do something about it... Not all teens are going to see it as a free pass to go have sex!

I would put my teen on bc. I'm cool with them being on it because of a rough period or acne or whatever but if they are sexually active they sure as hell will be on bc. I do not want my children to become teen parents...

I honestly wish I had never taken both control. It messed up my cycle for years to the point that I was told I was probably not going to be able to have kids. Luckily they were wrong. The issues started straight after I stopped taking the pill and the doctor said that it actually isn't a uncommon side effect but not exactly common either

My mom was determined to get me on BC lol! I had from when I was 17-21. I'm glad she put me on it. I became really sexually active when I met my now fiancé. We were very careless with condoms.
