I go back to the doctor in 2 weeks and I'll be 16w1d  will they be able to tell me gender? Should I ask them? sorry ftm

They'll usually schedule an anatomy scan (ultrasound) around 20 weeks. If you're just scheduled for a regular checkup, then they won't be doing an ultrasound and without it, no they can't tell. If you wanted to schedule an elective ultrasound, you'll have to pay full price out of pocket, by your gestation, they should be able to tell you fairly reliably what he baby's gender is. If you ask about it, most offices I've been in can't just squeeze you in for an ultrasound. 
But you should make sure to ask if they do the anatomy scan, and to get yourself scheduled for that. Because your next appointment, one after this upcoming one,  should be perfect for the anatomy scan.

You can ask, some drs may tell you but usually you have to wait a little longer.
