When do they check if you're dilated?

I'm 36 Weeks and 5 days with a doctor appointment tomorrow morning. Will she check to see if I'm dilated? SO CLOSE!

My dr said he'll check tomorrow for the first time, I'm between 37-38 weeks

My midwives don't check unless there is a reason. You can walk around at 1-2cm for a couple weeks so it's not worth the anxiety.

My doctor checks at 39 weeks and again each week until baby arrives.

I personally don't ask because I don't see a point unless you're in labor but alot of ppl just like to know. My experience its been painful so I just don't allow but that's totally up to you. Everyone is different, my cervix is far back and hard to reach hence the pain

I ask to be checked (started around 36 weeks) because I was having some painful contractions. My midwife doesn't do it unless you request it. I know it doesn't tell you when you might go into labor, but if I know going into labor that I am already 3 cm dilated, then I know I have less time to get to the hospital than if I was not dilated at all to begin with. It just helps me with timing and planning. It is not painful for me at all, but I know some women say it is for them.

Every doctor is different, I've only got checked the two times I had to go to the ER. I'm 35 weeks 3 days FTM so maybe you will, I don't know. If they don't maybe you could bring it up.

I'm a FTM and at my 36 week appt they offered to check. I get checked every week because I want to know if I'm making progress and NO it does not hurt! Everyone told me he painful it is but I haven't noticed a thing!
