Affordable knife set?

Random I know lol My husband and I have been in need of a new knife set/knife block since before we got married but don't have the $ to spend on a super expensive one. The knives we have now are just Walmart and I kid you not they won't even cut a grape in half. Does anyone know of any cheap knife sets ($50 or less) that are actually good quality and worth using?

You can't get good knives for that amount of $.  We have a wusthof set that is good, but it was expensive. Go to bed bath and beyond with a 20% off coupon and buy the most expensive chefs knife you can that will get you in your budget for the whole set. You don't really need good knives to eat with, but you can do almost anything with a chef knife that you need in order to cook.

I'd just get s couple good ones. I love my chef's knife and cerrated paring knife. I can do pretty much everything I need with just those two.

My SO is a chef and I get him single chefs knives, different lengths. Usually those blocks have knives that are not favorites. Just get him a knife roll. I take him to the store to see what he wants and then I go buy it by myself.

not sure where you live but I bought a really nice set from Aldis last Christmas. it was $40 and the only time the knives don't cut is when I need to sharpen them.
