Does plus size clothing work?

Question

I'm a plus size person in general, not super plus size but I weigh 210. I'm 4.5 months pregnant and am needing clothes...will bigger plus size clothing carry me through pregnancy or do I actually need maternity clothes? Wasn't sure if oversized clothes will work if I need clothing especially designed for pregnancy. I'm trying to be careful about how much I spend right now and this one is my first.

No way. Plus size clothes just make you look bigger. Maternity clothes actually make you look pregnant and not just fat.

I was 190 when I got pregnant, and I chose to buy maternity clothes. I really like the jeans with the full belly panels, they feel super supportive. as far as tops go, a lot of my pre pregnancy tops lasted pretty far into my pregnancy, but the length is really what made me buy maternity tops.

I'm normally a 2x or 22, and now at 32w I'm still wearing some of my 2x shirts and got a few 3x just for comfort. I don't like most maternity shirt because the sleeves and necklines SUCK, I hate most women's shirts because they have tiny sleeves that don't cover my flabby arms or come down too far in the front and back of the neckline. The only thing I do advise is getting some high waisted stretchy maternity panties (I found some at Walmart) and high waisted pants. I felt like they helped round out my tummy into a bump so I didn't look all lumpy lol

I wear my normal clothes because they are already sort of baggy and fit well.  But I did still buy a few maternity pants because they were just more comfortable

I just wore my regular clothes. I'm a tshirt kind of girl and just got a tummy sleeve for when the shirt got to short.

I find the tops still work fine,  but I prefer the feel of maternity pants.  I've also stocked up on wrap style dresses as they can be tied tighter or looser depending on how much I'm bloating that day (and will also be great for post-baby!)

I'm size 24 and have a hard time finding maternity clothes that are affordable in my area. For my pregnancies I just bought larger tops and stretch top pants. I found that yoga pants were really good at giving my bump a little support.

Go to goodwill and Salvation Army! Larger sized clothes should be okay for the most part. You might want a couple pairs of maternity pants because I’d imagine they’d fit a bit better than just bigger pants.
