Birth Story! (kind of long)

Jamie

My due date was September 27th. But, of course, I was getting super impatient because I was very large and I knew my little boy was in position and dropped down. So, on the morning of the 16th around 6 am, I woke up to my water breaking. It definitely freaked me out, and I couldn't believe it was happening. I called my doctor and he said to head to the hospital. I wasn't having true contractions, so we stopped for gas and my fiance got coffee- he also got a quick shower in while I made sure we had everything together. I strolled on in to the hospital and got all set up with a L&D; room, etc etc. Everything was beautiful until I wasn't dilating really at all and I got the pitocin. Soon I was definitely contracting and may or may not have thrown a wash cloth at my mom mid contraction. Anyways, I got the epidural, which only worked so much- it was still letting me feel contractions in my right hip. But we fixed it and soon my legs were dead to the world and my contractions were enough for me to actually almost fall asleep. The on call resident came in to check my dilation and actually touched my kids head before even getting too far! He was at a positive two position. My very dead left leg fell and knocked the stirrup back down! So in came my doctor and we got to push away for a whopping ten minutes. Fourteen hours of labor and my baby was in my arms! Eric Oliver, born at 9:31 pm, 7 lbs 10 oz and 19 1/2 inches long. He's one week old today and he's so calm, he never cries and sleeps very well. Everyone says I lucked out with my pregnancy, labor, and baby. All went

without a hitch for my first baby ever!
