Lap Band Patients??

Question

This may be a long shot, but has anyone undergone lap band or any other bariatric surgery? This is my first pregnancy, and I was banded in August of 12. I have yet to make an appointment with my surgeon, do I have to??

I had lap band in 2007 and was pregnant in 2008. Had to have the fluid released during pregnancy because I was losing too much weight.  6 weeks after I gave birth my stomach herniated above the band and almost ruptured, I ended up in emergency surgery. A larger band was put in but there's very little fluid and I don't have the issues I had with the last. Praying I don't have any complications with it this pregnancy!

I had it in 2008 and I'm pregnant with my first too. I talked to my surgeons office before we started trying, just to make sure I was good to go.. The nurse said its a non-issue unless your morning sickness is super severe and making you throw up a ton. The tightness of your band shouldn't be too restrictive. If you were getting enough calories in pre-pregnancy, you should be fine. My biggest issue is drinking enough water without feeling so full I don't want to eat. It's important to keep easy snacks and fruit and veggies on hand to get enough nutrients throughout the day. I haven't called my surgeon either but she said call right away if I'm extremely sick in the first trimester or struggling to eat, and then they would loosen my band a little.
