Does getting your membrane swept hurt?

Question

I’m 38 weeks pregnant due October 7th and I’m extremely uncomfortable and ready to give birth. I was going to ask at my next appointment if I can get my membrane swept to naturally induce my labor. I’ve heard that it hurts more than contractions but other people told me it wasn’t bad. I want to know how painful it is before I actually get it done!

Since your asking I will give you my honest opinion. I personally have a high pain tolerance like nothing hurts me and I sleep during tattoos I was calm as ever giving birth to my first but when they swept my membranes that honestly was so painful and I promised I would never let them do it again. Some only get their membrane swept once or twice but I had mines done 4 times so maybe the pain and my experience is magnified compared to other but it definitely induced my labor.

It hurts but I suck with pain. Anyways, I went into labor about 24 hours after I got mine done.

It made me sweat like a pig. I found it very uncomfortable but it was nothing compared to labour. My second sweep definitely got my labour off to a start! I was 41 weeks by that point 😊

They did mine while I was in labor to try and get my contractions to come faster. I went from 5cm to 7cm dilated as soon as she did it. It was a little uncomfortable but not bad. I bled a lot immediately afterwards though, which they said was normal since I dilated so much while they did it.

It wasn't my favorite, but I think I have a high pain tolerance... it was a cake walk compared to back labor. Just expect it to be uncomfortable. I held on to the sides of the table and breathed through it, which helped.

It hurts but not that bad I can say I had mine done Friday at 38 weeks and 2 days and it didn’t put me into labor! But scheduled my induction date for Wednesday at exactly 39 weeks
