Baby has allergy to dairy in my milk

Roze • Got my 🌈 baby! FTM July 2017. 2nd baby due July 2019

Since my baby was about 3 weeks old we noticed his anus was red (thought it was diaper rash but since it was just his anus our doula knew it wasn't) and had mucus in his poop. Our doula thankfully suggested our baby had a possible allergen. We went to his pediatrician and I am on a nondairy diet because my baby has a possible milk allergy. I've been nondairy for over a month and it's the worst because dairy is in everything! My baby is now 11 weeks old. I've had an accidental dairy ingestion before where I noticed cheese was in my food after I already had some bites and he had specks of bright red blood in his mucus poop. Terrible. And just today he had bright red specks again which means I accidentally ate dairy again! It's so frustrating cause I feel like I am being careful and this time I have no idea where I could've possible had the dairy. I'm feeling discouraged on breastfeeding cause I want my baby to feel better but obviously I shouldn't give up! It just sucks cause whenever a dairy ingestion occurs it takes a few weeks to clear out of me and a few weeks to clear out of him followed by a few more weeks for his GI to heal! His pediatrician and I still think it isn't worth it to have him on a soy formula for healing cause he's still growing and definitely more comfortable now that I've been nondairy. I'm praying for the day his mucus disappears. Any other moms have had allergen troubles?
