How to take binky away???

Question

My 27 month old loves her binky. 🙄I'm currently TTC #2 and wondering if I take her binky away now (which I'm sure will cause major problems) and have a new baby, will she always try to take the baby's binky? Will 9 months of pregnancy be enough for her to get over it and forget about it? assuming I get pregnant soon... 
So, I'm pretty sure I can come up with a way to get her off the binky, but I'm just wondering if it will be wasted effort if she just gets addicted again when new baby gets here? Or should I wait and de-bink both kids together?

THROW IT AWAY. Get rid of it forever. Do NOT give in. Let them cry. They won't die from crying. Be tough. My stepdaughter is freaking FOUR years old and still depends on it during the day and night. It's ridiculous. Because her mom is a pushover and doesn't tell her no. She's in preschool with a pacifier. My husband doesn't help because he didn't give it to her for THREE MONTHS at our house and then she threw a bad fit and gave in and now she has one at our house. He thinks I'm being mean when I say to throw them out the window of the car or in the garbage when she's throwing a tantrum but I'm not. Throw it away and say, "you don't have a binky anymore. You're a big kid now." Don't give in. It's easier not to give in when the pacifier is in the garbage! I don't want our child being addicted to a pacifier and plan on weaning around one, possibly before. It might sound mean. It's not. My stepdaughter has pacifier teeth (google the pics if you don't know what that is) because her mom is LAZY and can't tell her no. I'm the only dang one that tries to do right by that little girl and it's so irritating.

I've seen people cut the ends and they don't like them anymore because they're broken. One of my friends said the paci fairy took it to give to another little baby who needed one. My sister would just stash them unless it was nap or bed time then slowly stashed them during nap time, then eventually they were gone for bed time. There's so many different methods to try. I personally have never tried any. My baby would never take one.

take it away. she'll be over it by the time the new baby arrives. she'll also be old enough to get that binkies are for the baby and not for her.

With my daughter it happened by accident. She bit a hole in it and it didn't work the same way after that, which she did not like. So I just told her it was broken and she threw it in the trash. I told her that was the last one and that she didn't need it anyway because they are for tiny babies. I would say she was over it within a few months. She would ask about it or talk about it occasionally, but there was never a time when she cried for it or anything like that. I just kept reminding her that it was broken.

You can try weaning her off of it. I don't know how often she uses it, but first you can start to just give it to her at home... not while you're out. Then after a week or so, just give it to her at nap time and bed time. Wait another week or two and just give it to her at bedtime, and then eventually you can tell her that she's a big girl and only babies need pacifiers. Big girls don't use them.

By the time the baby comes your two year old should be well over wanting them..I mean you're just ttc still and I'm assuming it won't take 9 months to get her off them right? I wouldn't worry about her stealing the binkies so much as tackling the problem of getting them away from her. Cross the baby bridge when you get there and just focus on taking the binky for now. And I agree with just throwing it out and letting her cry a few days. Won't kill her.

I read that binkies can raise the chances of reoccurring ear infections, which my LO was already at risk for needing tubes out in his ears because of having two within like three or four months of each other. So one night I just laid him down without it and hid all of them. He slept fine and didn't fuss for it in the morning. My unbearably stupid SIL (who is never seen with her own child anyway because she resents the poor thing) has been giving her daughter the binkie and my LO will actually bring it to her and attempt to put it in her mouth. They're so cute together. I would try that approach, just one night never give it to her and hide all of them, act like there never we're binkies in your house.
