Book series?

So, I want to start reading chapter books to my baby. Like a series. The first one that comes to mind is Harry Potter, but I feel it'll be too scary once he is a little older. He's 8 weeks old right now, so he won't understand it, but when he can understand what's going on is what I'm afraid of. I don't wanna terrify my kid lol... 
My plan is to read one chapter a night to him before bed. Anyone have any suggestions that aren't scary?

I’m reading Harry Potter to my little one. I don’t think he can really comprehend anything that complex at two months so I’m not worried about the storyline. It’s more just the bonding time and hearing your voice.

Just curious.. why chapter books? Your baby may be able to sit through it now, since he/she can't go anywhere (lol) but once your baby gets bigger, the story will most likely be way too long and difficult to understand. Also, there are no pictures. It would probably be more beneficial  to read something developmentally and age-appropriate. I work in a Head Start center and 3-5 year olds can barely sit through a 5 minute book WITH pictures!
